Chords is here. (So is the freshened-up Ideapad, ready for 2001.)

What is Chords? It's my music soapbox, where I've posted my Top Ten Albums and Top Ten Singles lists for 2000. All music-related material on netWert will now appear there, cross-linked via the Ideapad. Check it out.

Time to wind down for the holidays. I'm having FTP connectivity problems at work and come Thursday I'll be on vacation till January. Stop by Wednesday for the debut of netWert's music section, and after that, I'll see you in January, with a slightly updated look sitewide.

Ladies and gentlemen, citizens of the United States of America, meet your new president.

EarPlanes, baby, it's all about EarPlanes. Did you know the inside of the average jet plane is 110 decibels in volume, as loud as a rock concert?

New fun collaboration! I'm a contributor to travelblog.net, a weblog on travel (duh) created by Dori of Saranwarp fame.

I have already posted my first travel entry to the blog. You'll notice it's all about the trip to Florida I'm about to take. Which means the 'pad will be quiet until the end of next week. See you then.

I found this very funny. (9:45 a.m. EST)

Chatting with my old Billboard coworker Dylan in email today, we swapped what's-in-my-CD-player-right-now lists, and after reading my list, Dylan -- who works for CMJ these days, and who knows her music like no one's business -- congratulated me on inadvertently discovering CMJ's four most recent featured artists.

I mention this as a roundabout plug for my now playing list, and as an advance promo for my year-end music feature, which will be winging its way online around December 20. Stay tuned.

Reality is setting in at Kozmo.com, which is now charging a $1.99 delivery fee on all purchases under $30 (link works for registered users only). They're also selling just about everything at retail. So if I want to (finally) pick up Dave Eggers' book for my vacation, I can either swing by Barnes & Noble and pay $18.40, 20 percent off the $23 list price, or I can Kozmo it for $24.99. Where would you shop?

Television executives at the WB are crediting Keri Russell's longer hair for the strengthening ratings of "Felicity." Noted in passing is that the program's bouncing show times, from Tuesday at 9 to Sunday at 8 to Wednesday at 9, produce far better results at a later weeknight time slot than early on a Sunday evening. Because, of course, television success is about hair, not picking the right time and place to broadcast a show.

And I thought Media Metrix was bad.

Not that you asked for one, but I'm going to redesign the 'pad this winter. Time to write some more professional essays and streamline things a bit, eliminate some clutter and what not. Suggestions invited as I gear up for it.

More fun with scripts: Pornolize makes a web page swear like a sailor. You can't link directly to a pornolized page, but paste in this link to see my words turn into things like, "And you thought I only fistfucked with women over unclefucks and bad television licks." (via Fark and Metafilter, bandwagon-jumper that I am)

I may love PayPal, but parent X.com is having its share of dotcom difficulties.
